What do all these buttons, switches, and knobs do?
Week 3

Three weeks in and this is getting out of control. I am in full research mode, and as it turns out, there is just about as much information on photography as there is on any other subject you can imagine. I also went in search of photography classes in the local area. No such luck–other than a local camera shop, the only one in Southeast Idaho and consequently, offering some online classes. (Perfect Light Camera). I’ll tell you more about them later.
I kept looking for more help and I found a photography club based in the Idaho Falls area named High Desert Photographers Camera Club! This may be a huge help, or a complete disaster. From what I found in my search for knowledge, photographers can be quite snobby and pretentious. I am not sure if I want to sign up for it or not, but I am still out of control as far as my picture taking goes and I need help. I am still trying to figure out the settings on the camera and how it works, so I said screw it, I’m gonna go see what it is all about.
Susan and I showed up on a night that they had a class on “where to find good locations to shoot” using Google maps and some other resources. Lo and behold we were welcomed with open arms, no pretentiousness at all. They are a great group of photography enthusiasts from all over the area. There are many of them that have traveled the world and to be honest I am very humbled being around such skilled folks. They have a whole bunch of styles and tools and a plethora of other fancy camera gear that I had never even heard of. Susan and I both signed up. The only down side(not really a down side) is that most of them shoot either Canon or Nikon camera gear. I am a Sony shooter. Luckily for me the language is pretty much a direct 1:1 translation between manufacturers, so they understand the gist of most of my questions. I am very happy to have found them…Let’s move on to the photos for the week.
My favorite one this week has to be the Eagle. I shot this one with my Galaxy S21 Ultra on a kayaking trip at Cliff Lake up in Montana. I just thought it was a cool photo. I got lucky with this shot.
My least favorite is the sunrise on the buttes. The best thing about this photo is the color gradient. There has to be at least one redeeming quality about it right?
I’ll just keep plugging along and see what happens, I have a few photos under my belt now.
I would love to get some feedback from you all about the photography learning process, Please feel free to shoot me an email via my contact page.
Thanks for reading!
